Vintage Univox 1960’s Uc-3 Electric Guitar Jaguar Strat Picture(s) and Description:

Sweet! Here is an amazing sounding and playing vintage Univox electric guitar, and from what little info I can find, its a UC-3 model made in 1965 or 1966. Univox guitars were produced at the famous Matsumoko factory in Japan, where a ton of great guitars were produced. The UC-3 is most often compared to the Jaguar, but its quite a unique and attractive design, and it just plain looks killer. Nearly every time I take it out, someone will come up and ask about this cool guitar. Its in great shape for its age, and is nearly 100% original. Ive owned this guitar for 22 years (got her at a pawn shop somewhere in Colorado) and its been gigged with many times, but I havent played it much in the last five years and its time to get it out of the closet and into your hands. I dont think there were many of these three pickup models made, as they rarely show up for sale, so if youve been waiting, heres your chance at a fine UC-3 with no reserve.

Heres a detailed description of it, from head to toe: Overall, its in fine shape with no structural issues of any kind. The odd shape makes this a long guitar, about 40 long by my measure, but the scale is a comfortable 24 . Nut width looks like 1 9/16. There are nicks, dings and finish checking in several spots on the body and neck, nothing to cry about, but normal wear for a played guitar this age. Headstock is in great shape, with original logo and truss rod cover in excellent condition. Original tuners were replaced for better ones by Subway Guitars in Berkeley, CA about 20 years agoand it stays in tune very well. The string tree for the D and G may have been added at that timedont recall, but its different than the one for B and E. Nut appears to be the original. Frets are in good condition, with medium wear on the first few. Cool bass side inlay dots are excellent. Nice detail in that the bound neck has an extra black and white fine binding surrounding the fingerboard. Neck looks like a one-piece maple and is very comfortable, not too big or too small.

Body has a little heft, but balance is just right and shes a joy to play. One of the guitars most striking aspects is iridescent wood figuring on the top and backthe photos dont do it justice. Three color sunburst on the maple (?) wood is stunning. Neck plate has an old name and phone # etched into it (okay, it was meI had just had a great Tele stolen two decades back and took to marking my equipment), but its not very noticeable. Original strap buttons. White pickup covers are original, as is the nice 4-ply pickguard. Second tone knob is obviously not original. Five way pickup selector missing tip. Tone pots are a little scratchy, never bothered me but you may want to spray them. Tremelo works greattrem arm threads perfectly. I never knew what, if anything, the small two-way switch does. Original pickups sound just great, and I mean REALLY great, with a wide variety of tones. Action is great, no buzzing up or down the neck, and intonation is well set. Set up with tens and ready to rock and/or roll.

Ill let the pictures do the rest of the talking, including some pages from the 1966 catalog which detail this model.

There is no case or gigbag, but if youd like I can include a good old Valley Arts Guitar gigbag that fits snugly to this odd shape for an extra $35 (its the only gigbag I have in my stock that fits this guitar). This optional black gigbag is very well padded with leather handles.

Ill send this guitar only to the US and Canada, so please dont ask me to ship elsewhere. Ill package it very well, and shipping is a flat rate $30, which includes insurance (Canada, Alaska and Hawaii residents agree to pay whatever extra shipping fees it takes to get it to their place). Guitar will be shipped promptly after payment, which is expected within 72 hours of end of auction. Ive worked hard to keep my 100% positive ebay feedback and you will not be misled by this auction. I have to my best ability tried to describe this guitar in great detail, so there are no returns or refunds unless this guitar is not as describedits up to you to bid responsibly--please ask any questions before bidding and Ill answer them as quickly as possible. Ive sold many guitars on ebay and havent had a return yet. No third party bidding or shipping to PO Boxes. Paypal is the only method of payment I accept, period. Please do not bid if you do not intend to payI report nonpaying bidders. No zero or negative feedback bidders. Im confident that you will be very happy with this sweet playing and sounding vintage Univox!

This is a good, old-fashioned no-reserve auction, so bid to win as the high bidder takes it!
