I am proud to be able to offer this very fine old french full sized violin, an incredible piece of art! Labelled: Georges Chanot a Paris Annee 1855 This instrument is one of my best sounding violins you will ever see on eBay. The original french golden and transparent varnish and fine ground are of excellent composition and pleasing colour. The violin has been expertly set up and fully adjusted. Good ebony fittings, Pirastro strings and premium quality bridge were instaled. This violin is ready to play. The violin is suitable for professional, soloist use. The violin is in very good condition for its age. It has only one professionally repaired crack on the top - from the left f downwards, appr. 4 cm long. I can not find more repairs or damages. The back is narrow flamed maple, matched with the wood of the ribs. The top is very fine grained spruce of elegant figure; very tight at the center joint and widening toward the flanks. Every detail is exhibits the steady and confident hand of an experienced and seasoned maker. The scroll is finely sculptured and beautifully detailed in the style of some of the most famous Strad violins. The edges and corners are artistically conceived, cleanly defined and perfectly executed. The tone of this violin is absolutely fabulous. It has a huge voice, deep, rich, mellow, soft, well-balanced and sonorous. This is a solo quality, powerful violin for the largest halls. This is a violin that makes any player sound better and in the hands of a very good player provides tremendous flexibility, response and layers of complex color to explore. This is a very good sounding and well-made violin that will delight any player, especially an expert.
